Red Dixie pitcher plant
S. 'Red Dixie' is a Larry Mellichamp hybrid with a unique look and character. Pitchers are red with white areoles and venation throughout the hood and upper portion of the leaf. The hood has a flattened look and over hangs the mouth. The hood shape keeps water out of the pitcher during rain storms to prevent toppling.
'Red Dixie' forms dense clumps of leaves that are typically 12 inches tall with 3 inch wide hoods in the fall. Spring leaves are somewhat smaller. This is a hardy plant that will quickly fill a pot and bring color to your collection.
Culture: Plant in full sun to part shade outdoors. Use peat moss in a very large planter and keep it wet. In a bog garden, use a mixture of peat moss and sand. It loses its leaves in the winter. Cold hardy to 20F in a pot and 0F in the ground.Orders placed from the following states will ship Bare Root: AZ, CA, HI, ID, MT, NV, OR, UT, WA
