Bud Wilkerson pitcher plant
S. 'Bud Wilkerson' is a naturally-occurring hybrid from the Wilkerson’s property in Walton county Florida introduced into cultivation by Brooks Garcia.
This plant has an extremely prominent red throat and mostly green body with white areoles . The top of the hood is white with red venation that dissipates as it trails down the tube. The complex color contrast will please the most discriminating gardener.
A medium size plant, 'Bud Wilkerson' sends up spring pitchers that are approximately 2 feet in height with mouths 2 inches across. Expect it to produce summer phylodia and slightly smaller traps in fall. Make Bud a permanent fixture in your collection today!
Plant in full sun to part shade outdoors. Use peat moss and perlite in a very large planter and keep it wet. S. 'Leah Wilkerson' will reach its full potential only when grown in a planter with adequate room. For plants reaching maturity, try a 5 gallon or larger container. In a bog garden, use a mixture of peat moss and sand. It loses its leaves in the winter. Cold hardy to 20F in a pot and 0F in the ground.
